Genosource CAPTAIN, has made history being the first bull of the Genomic Era to achieve six consecutive proof runs as the #1 sire on the Top 100 International TPI® Bull List provided by Holstein Association USA. We're so proud that this milestone validates genomic technology and the improvement it has made on modern cattle genetics.
When CAPTAIN was introduced to the industry in April of 2019 as the #1 TPI Genomic Young Bull, we were so proud to have bred a young bull of this status and hoped for his success as he continued to develop. Since his first achievement he has claimed international success by topping the charts in the U.S., Canada and the UK. He claimed the #1 TPI sire on the Top 100 International TPI® Bulls List in December of 2022 and has now held this spot for six consecutive genetic evaluations, a feat that no other proven sire from the genomic era has achieved. We thought we were proud in 2019, but 5 years later, we are even prouder of CAPTAIN as well as all the people behind this bull who have helped him achieve such heights.
For the August 2024 Genetic Evaluation, CAPTAIN added 1924 daughters to his proof for a total of 6077 daughters! CAPTAIN came in at an impressive +3331 TPI and is +1408 NM$. He has proven time and time again to make impressive daughters that are high performance with beautiful udders as he combines his production traits of +2462 Milk and +243 CFP with an impressive Udder Composite of +1.57. And continuing his international dominance, CAPTAIN also holds steady for LPI & Pro$ Sire in Canada at +3728 GLPI and +2666 Pro$ and he also remains #1 in UK as the top PLI sire.
CAPTAIN is making daughters all across the world that reflect what our breeding program works to achieve on our own farm. Our modern breeding philosophy is something we put a lot of time and passion into, to see it mirrored through his daughters gives us a great deal of Joy.
This feat would not be possible without the incredible team at STgenetics as well as the dairy producers across the globe who have invested in his genetics. A heartfelt thank you to the sire team at Vienna and Fond du Lac, those in the lab sorting and packaging semen to the sales team taking his genetics to the farm and more we are sure we are missing.
